She's my Faux cherry pie

This was a lot of fun to make! I love when I visualize the design in my mind and somehow I make it a reality. I just kind of wing it and hope for the best, 99% of the time it actually works.
Here's the deal, to make cherry's I used gum paste and rolled them into little balls. To make the pie colored crust I used a combination of colors, then I used piping jelly to let the fondant stick to the pie plate. After I covered it, I cut a big hole in the center because I didn't want to waste the fondant. I quickly worked the fondant around the pie plate edges then trimmed the excess with mini scissors.
I used thick royal icing as filler and it added height, then I stuck the cherry'son top. I wanted a syrupy looking texture that would harden, so I used glucose and died it red.

Chocolate gingerbread boys and girls

I just loves these chocolate kids! They were super easy to make! I used a non stick cake pan mold to make these delightful little people. I melted merkins aka "stay at home mom chocolate" (tempered chocolate) in the microwave. Then I filled up the molds with the chocolate, I put the pan on my balcony because I wanted it to set quickly, thank goodness for the lovely Canadian winters! Sure enough 30 minutes later they popped right out. The trick is not to hesitate when flipping then over, it's sort of a all or nothing kind of deal. Worst comes to worst if they break, just melt them back down and do it again. Ain't no thang. Then I piped them with royal icing. Aren't they just the cutest things?

Mazel Tov!

It wouldn't be Christmas with out celebrating Chanuka! Oye!

Front Window!

Well what do you know, look who is all fancy and showing off in the front window!

Dean Martin and Christmas cookies

I really love making Christmas cookies, nothing beats listening to Christmas music and baking cookies. I was told to make these cookie stamps beautiful. I decided to up the ante and make them super fancy, instead of just stamping the dough, I used it to emboss fondant. Then I piped over it and eventually painted them with gold dust. I made my favorite shortbread recipe, once the dough was made I chilled it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. To roll out any type of dough I recommend using a wooden rolling pin and 2 pieces of parchment paper so that it rolls out evenly and doesn't stick to anything. To dye the dough, I mixed it by hand using a paste color. But remember you should always add a lot of color at once so that you don't over work the dough. To stick the fondant to the cookies I used water and paint brush. The sugars from the cookie and the fondant act like glue once it hardens.

Princess Scarlett

I had to make a birthday cake fit for a princess. I was short for time and could only make a single tiered cake. To up the ante I made mini cupcakes that surrounded the cake. I made a 8'" inch cake, so to make it look impressive I used a 16"inch cake drum. Everything had to be pink! I made the crown out of modeling chocolate, not only pliable but tasty too.
